This marble garden statue shows us St Christopher, whose real name was Orpheus Offers. He used carrying others to cross the river as his method of serving Jesus. One day Christopher discovered that the child he was carrying was so heavy that he could barely carry it. After a difficult river crossing, he said to the child, “You are heavy enough to make me feel like the world is on my shoulders”, and the child responded, “You are not only carrying the whole world but also its creator. I am Christ, your King”. From then on, Ophelus changed his name to Christopher, which means the one who carried Christ. Inspired by this event, Christopher decided to embark on a missionary journey.
